Songs – Sanity or Sinfulness

This is a shortcut that entertainment industry is practicing these days to attract mass – immense hype. For movies it’s ok , we have certifications but what about songs ?

I am talking about the much hyped and played Deepika’s item number – Mit Jaye gum (Dum Maro Dum).

Play the song beats are awesome, catchy and shocking lyrics. Play it again to listen it carefully. Yes with the popular original melodious chanting “hare Krishna hare Rama” words are raunchy and if you by mistake happen to listen it with family or even your younger siblings they are humiliating.

We have moral police pressing siren for leading lady dressing in movies or few sensuous scenes or at times for complete movie, but why not for songs. If advertisements can be banned, then why not these cheap/crap/raunchy songs can be? Controversy was created on a word from Aaja Nachley ,2009. Now a full song is released full of vulgarity. What censor board is doing? Songs like Mit jaye gum should be passed with Adult Certificate only. They are not pleasing rather give pain to ears and guilt. Guilt because it reflects the mental state of society. Are we actually???

Seductive songs were made in past also. But please understand there is a difference in being seducing and cheap.  Seducing can be just like expressing any other emotions but no excuses for cheap. Long back in 1986 Madhuri’s item number create such sensation – Choli ki peeche from Khalnayak. Reasons were given, that it depicts the words from a dancer and would audience expects a bar dancer type woman singing soft songs in front of a terrorist.

Few more songs that should be passed with “Adult only certificate” are

Pyaar do pyaar lo (Thankyou)

Tinku jiya (Yamla Pagla Diwana)

Kaat ke rakh dunga (Love Sex aur Dhokha)

Dum laga (Dil Dosti etc)

Khada hain khada hain (Andaz 1993)

I am looking forward to hear your views about it. For me such songs are sinful not sanity.

very nice saakshi ..u r rite in pointing out this neusense in the form of songs coming to our homes. And i would say thy hav much more effect on childrens as thy r catchy n easily gets into the minds of young girls n boys . n we wonder y our society is deteriorating.

    KEEP THE GUD WORKING COMING

  2. I can visualize the reaction of elders when “mit jaye gum” or “pyaar do pyaar lo” songs would be playing at family parties and youth dancing on the tracks shamelessly.
Everything that the industry is serving can not be absorbed.

hey saakshi.. i agree with you in saying that after every few days a line is crossed in making movies or songs a lil more raunchier.. or as you ve put it a lil more sinful.. but if we talk about this particular example that you have taken.. the name of “hare krishna hare ram” was tainted in 1971 only.. when a hippie played by zeenat aman connected it wid smoking marijuana or bongs.. people talked about it.. some hype was created and then everybody forgot… so this is not something new to happen..

We hear something new.. talk about it.. forget and move on to some new discussion or some new controversy. Thats y every other day a munni gets badnaam or a shiela gets jawaan.. and there is nothing that we can do about it.. besides just listening to it..

hey.. But there have been examples where actions have been taken..
i remember reading an article once that said how a song ” Tu Nangi achhi lagti hai” (from love sex aur dhoka) was changed to “tu gandi achhi lagti hai” coz of some objection by censor board..and how different versions are launched for public and private hearing like in london brindge by fergie, “oh shit” was changed to “oh snap” or “i wanna fuck you” to “i wanna love you”.
what we need to understand is that there is a fine line between sensuality and offending vulgarity. And this fine line has always been and will always remain controversial!!!

  4. dudettes first of all take it easy……………
when we were kids we enjoyed it in our own way , songs ,movies were just awesome @ those time, but nw de whole bollywood industry has turned a ni8 mare! everyone out ovu there is thinking of money and nothing else!…….they are just making money, the sanskar, n all things r forgotten …..the only thing we can do is ignore the path which we r walking upon filled with those sinful , raunchy, kind of things n just move on……thats wht life is fr us! 😦

  5. @ Sahil : First of all, my sincere apologies for replying late , I missed your comments. Second , “what we need to understand is that there is a fine line between sensuality and offending vulgarity” .. totally agree , hope it make sense to youth today.

  6. @saakshi , sahil did grabbed a nice point, but this wouldn’t happen in our country untill n unless a big neta takes de leadership “aana hazare is gr8 man….he shuld also tke dis kind of initiatives……….but dnt kno de youth/ other half part which dnt sense de thinking as we do would follow or not?

    • I have a bit different opinion , the present and future of the nation is the youth. If we can’t lead our mind then how come we will lead the nation. We have to understand the diff b/w good and bad. Till when ppl like Anna Hazare will enlighten us ?
If we stop bribing and all sorts of corruption at very small levels then we don’t need such campaigns.

hang on lady !!! dnt divert de controversy towards de bribing part n all……its just out of our league…..it cant b changed!…..am sayin it as barefaced! bt i do support for him coz he took de initiative which mi8 lead to start for changing the system!

lets come to the point, we r youth n we are the future of our nation we do understand the difference btw good n bad, bt de directors de producers wht they think of ? they just think of making money day n ni8 ! nothings gonna stop them frm doin it,nor de government nor de censor board coz even they are venal, we dont know de behind scene parts actually what happens over there??? bt when it gets published in media, de vulgarity we see de raunchiness makes us feel ashamed…….actually i said it so; coz ystrday while watching a commercial i came across stuff like raunchiness involved in it and i was accompanied by one of my nephew studying in fifth std while watchin it! and guess de most shameful part ? de commercial was none other than a deodorant one….was fully ashamed 😦 n fr a moment thought of nvr evr watchin de Idiot box evr…….

u know what i had seen a documentary its just fabulous,am saying it coz on gripping of what u blogged wht did u mentioned i think its some wht closer to our thinking and thats why u you should watch it ,its not whole-ly related to de article u posted ovu here !but yes, offcourse it makes sense to watch it, would post de link if u want to hav a look @ it !
Actually i’ll find it out n post de link coz it mi8 b in browsing history for which i wuld hav do some digging in ma browser!)
