I am alive

Hie,

How is 2013 going so far?

Presently, anything that I am crossing by is ‘new’ for me. With frequently changing cities apart from weather differences, I am occupied with cleaning, packing, moving, unpacking and then starting again with cleaning process these. Checking out my old notes on my first computer, I got a treasure, hidden in this old computer hard disk from nearly a decade.

My dad gifted me a computer , the one with big and bulky  white screen covered behind a screen guard, big CPU which required a decent cooling system in the room keyboard  with big keys

producing music every time you touch them (ouch !! touch-me-not beauties) on my birthday. I was in my primary school and thus my play time was for limited hours every evening. Those days I recall my motto was to listen new songs, improve my verbal English, learn using computer and speed up typing.  I came up with the solution, to play English songs on computer, open a notepad and start typing as the song play.

Here are the lyrics from a beautiful song written by Neil Diamond perfect for a fresh start of a brand new year dedicate to a great life , enjoy !!

I am alive

I am alive

Take a walk

You can hardly breathe the air

Look around

It’s a hard life everywhere

People talk

But they never really care

On the street

There is a feeling of despair

But everyday

There is a brand new baby on

Everyday

There is a sun to keep you warm

Its alright, I am alive

Take of your life

What its got to give

I am alive

Everybody

Look here

I am alive

I am alive

So , what are you waiting for gear up your energies, raise your chin , smile a bit , wear  bring-it-on attitude and chant ‘I am alive’

Be happy , Stay Blessed

Happy 2013

One Moment … One Life

Hie ,

One lIfe

One lIfe

I always wonder how one text, one song, one mistake, one lie, one word, one truth, and one person could change your mood in one moment.

Strange but it happens this way.

I wonder how happiness starts with one word, one joke, one text, one phone call, one song, one hug, one kiss , one look … and stops with one mistake !!

I wonder why it’s just one moment that holds the power to get attached or get detached ?

Why just one moment to decide either to make it or break it ?

Too much dependency on emotions , matters of heart ..  😦

But that’s what makes us feel alive.  Moment by moment we fall in love with life.

We move ahead.

We take decisions.

We react and then anticipate.

We hold our faith.

We create pleasant and self favorable myths.

We love. We live . We die.

I wonder how many of you can give a big shout out with me

I am in love with life .. I am alive . . .each moment and every moment

Love,
Saakshi

When you are living alone …..

My Project 4 Toastmasters Speech – Objective : How you say it ?

When you are living alone

Everyone has their own set of problems , like mother-in-law’s  bashing , metros running late , cribbing spouses /girlfriend / boyfriend , petrol prices rising , Mr  Dependable retiring from International Cricket , Clients draining your energy , Boss always asking for status , Figures on salary slips or the lack of it, post holi allergies , Lunch time and toastmasters meeting. Isn’t it?

Well I am no exception; I narrate almost all of my problems with the starting line – When you are living alone. So with due apologies, I am cribbing again on this hot Friday afternoon.
h
Hello Everyone.

When you are living alone

When you are living alone, you feel confident, brave, big girl, independent and cool among your peers. Were you thinking the same? OH please, it’s all rubbish. Nothing in reality is like this. If you are planning to live alone there are numbers of problems crossing your way. Don’t worry I won’t be requiring any tissues in between, as I said earlier, I am a big girl…. will manage.

Just need your kind attention to this subject matter.

 1. Living alone means, there is no body to help you occasionally with morning tea or to wake you up in case you are running late.

2. On those epic days when you managed to get up at the crack of dawn and go for morning walk, you have to carry keys with you

3.   You have to do all the washing, cleaning, dishes and laundry by yourself. Trust me this ruthless society won’t let you breathe if they come to know about your maid, as per them I am of perfect marriageable age and I should excel in my home management training otherwise my future in-laws or my future husband will kick me out.

4. There will be no one to assure whether you are looking presentable or not before stepping out. You are forced to be dependent upon what’s app 🙂

5. Though you are organized and have a well decorated place, you may have a habit of throwing washed or to be washed clothes on the not so usable bean bag. Take my free advice; avoid this habit, just in case, friends drop by in the evening for a movie or coffee. Your neat – clean – sophisticated image will vanish at the first sight.

6. You have to keep extra cutlery and dish wares for the guests; and you have to clean them too.

7. The most irritated person in your life would be vegetable seller who  has a smirk, because you pointedly  pick quarter kg of onion – tomatoes , 2 capsicums, 4 cucumbers and request for a half cauliflower. If you happen to own a fridge, there would surely be a lemon which used to be an orange few weeks ago.

8. In case you are terrorized by lizards or rodents, God is the only one who is at your service only if you religiously remind Him this task every morning in your prayers. After all there is just one!

9. Demonstrating your responsible person, you have to be extra cautious while hanging your wet clothes out on terrace , if it rains or is there any hurricane , oh we have storms in Delhi NCR, then you have to put all the effort again.

10. If you have any sick feeling, book yourself some place either at one of your close friends or call someone to take you home at the earliest. Being alone and falling sick is the toughest trauma one needs to go through.

11. You are prone to take genuinely unplanned casual leaves due to some electrician, plumber sometimes carpenter too is visiting your place.

12. You are forced to give your office address to call all the posts , so nothing fishy can be done with your life , ah boring.

13. You are deprived of blaming and cursing your roommate for the huge electricity bill and that’s not fair.

Now , if you  are still Home alone 1 , 2 and 3 fan you just had a sneak peak to what might come your way , one fine day , you wish to live alone.

Love,

Saakshi

The Quest of the Sparrows

English: Book cover for the book The Quest of ...

Image via Wikipedia

It was some 5 hour journey during the day today with un-limited questions fighting in my mind and few medical reports and co-incidentally bank statement; which gives mirror image of my present state. I am frustrated and annoyed with myself. I am doing a bit for myself and lives a happy serene life , but at times (this comes at a frequency of 6 months) feel unstable and very string vibes of something missing.

Just trying to distract myself , I bought a book to read while traveling. Never knew reading just 20 pages will calm me down .

Thought I should share some excerpts with you. It could have been a  sin , if I choose to keep it with myself.

Book – The Quest of the Sparrows

Authors – Kartik Sharma & Ravi ‘Nirmal’ Sharma

We live in times when media is the king. It’s only interested in financial figure, records and achievements. Spirituality isn’t an object of desire, or even in the headlines; still, you are here. I bow to your spirit, which believes in what no one has seen and marches to a destination that appears to be even harder to achieve than the biggest material goal.

Most human beings search for eternal happiness. Yet, why is it elusive? Most people fail to achieve it by following idealism, spiritualism, capitalism, materialism, socialism or other-isms. Why do they meet disillusionment?

Why does a sparrow, which knows no “-isms”, live without the worries which accompany human beings? What is it we manage throughout our complex lives? Merely survival. Hey, something is wrong – because the bird does the same, effortlessly. So what’s the big difference between us and the helpless sparrow? Don’t you think we’re missing something? What is it?

Forget the sparrow for a moment. Think of all the people in this world. They go to their workplaces in the morning and then return in the evening, like swinging pendulums. But does a pendulum swing aimlessly away and towards the centre? Or does it personify something more , like time? That depends on what you associate with life? Is it aimless or does it have a higher purpose? Like pendulum, it swings between two states – birth and death. What gives it meaning? Can anyone answer ?

The divine . One answer , could be . But that’s a lofty ideal for us beginners. Think of something more practical. Look around you; is everything the same as it was a century ago? What has happened in all these years?

Evolution. Probably ,another answer. Yes . Between birth and death is evolving. That’s the higher meaning of our lives. But what do most people do ? They achieve, lose, feel happy or sad, celebrate and mourn. They merely move to and fro like a ball of a pendulum, with hardly any peace. Even among believers, everyone is religious but very few are truly spiritual. Is it all linked or unrelated? Think over it. Find the connection, and I think we will be able to solve the riddle of life.

Stay Blessed,

Saakshi

5 types of men , women don’t like

Hi ,

Earlier I posted 5 types of women , men don’t like on new year eve (though I did find that on TOI website) , here is a follow-up to that. I believe , it’s an answer to men who irrationally categorize women.

Women , pull up your sleeves, here is our turn to corner men in 5 broad categories, that we HATE. Hope they will listen and learn.

Disclaimer : Nothing personal , no hard feelings for anyone 🙂 this is just a general view . Simply not my perspective !!

5 Types of men women hate

There might be ample qualities that make men irresistible. But women being the fairer sex have created certain stereotypes in men that they would never want to be seen with.

We list the most common kinds of men that women love to hate…

1. Thumbs down to dominant men : Gone are the days when a male dominated society used to be the way of life. So, if the next time you try to show your superiority in front of your girl, it might land you in a tight spot. Women prefer mates who’re recognized by their peers for their skills, abilities, and achievements – and not those who use coercive tactics to subordinate their rivals, reveals a new study.

2. Macho guys aren’t always lucky : A macho guy with an angry young man personality might look good on silver screen, but when it comes to real life, women aren’t game to hang around with macho dudes. A recent study claims that macho guys don’t always get the girls. The study further revealed that the most aggressive guys ended up with fewer wives and children.

3. Keep sex starved men at bay : Men are usually sexually more charged up. But when it comes to choosing a mate, women don’t opt for a sexually ravenous partner. This is maybe because for such men, sex is the top priority in the relationship whereas the woman continuously seeks love and romance, sans physical intimacy.

4. Chauvinism is out completely : Remember Bobby Deol’s chauvinistic character in Dostana, which was enough to drive his lady nuts. An excess of anything is bad. Women don’t find a chauvinistic man a great companion to spend the rest of their lives with.

5. Using slangs won’t take you anywhere : Using abusive lingo every time you indulge in a conversation might lend you a cool dude look cool in front of your male peers, but girls don’t want to hang around with a abusive man. Being too abusive and stressing on using slangs too often is a ‘turn off’ for today’s women.

So , ladies out there , what you say ?

Think , Spread, Aware , Discuss and Enjoy !!

The pursuit of sadness

Have you ever experienced such a feeling that by each passing moment it feels like something is terribly missing? Something isn’t right. Have you ever faced this miserable –sinful feeling that everyone around you is in a situation just because of you.

I am in such a phase for the past few days. I know I am committing a crime. It’s only my musing power that has gone beyond its acceptable limit and is the culprit of my pitiful condition.  I prefer to remain silent, full of self guilt, confused, in a state of emptiness, hopelessness.. ..Simply sad (you can imagine any bollywood movie scene) losing my beautiful life’s battle to my worries and fear. It’s so easy to fall into feelings of despair.

Why am I like this…One day I am so cheerful and happy like a sunshine, the other day sad, crying, despair  ? (cut short chinta mani)

Sadness and happiness are two relative words (oh come on everybody knows this, what’s new?) .We , homosapiens!  Always try to protect ourselves from sadness, run away from the things that have the potential to hit back at us, make us feel as if we are powerless to change these circumstances.  It’s an irony; we worry and fear for things that make us happy. We remain in doubt whether they will happen. Why don’t we simply make them happen?

It’s our time, It’s our life, we can do what we like, for the price of a smile, why do we cry?

You cannot protect yourself from sadness without protecting yourself from happiness.”

I love drama. I am in love with life and have full of emotions. I am a genius of sadness, can immerse myself deeply into it, can separate numerous strands. I am a prism through which sadness could be divided into its infinite spectrum. I am sad; at times I am like this.

Am I sad? Am I in pain? Yes I am. I should be rather grateful, I feel alive . Else , its just work all day, moving from one task to the other . I should be happy, I am alive as a human not a machine. I got a reason to celebrate myself and take a break.

Life is a perfect balance. (Thee has designed it like this way, and how come He can go wrong!) There are two beams which depict two phases of our life in a cyclic way. At a given point of time, only one is heavier.

As per my observations (I haven’t lived even half of average life boosted by experts) One beam is for feelings of joy, confidence, strong self esteem and feeling on cloud 9. Another beam is for despair, a lack of finding meaning/answer/purpose of life. Sometimes walking back home I realize how miraculous is the feeling of being alive and blessed with what a wonderful gift –Life , the most undefined , unwritten , unpredicted and  unknown. There are days when the same path let me wonder about the disasters in an instant ! Money, health, relationships, friends everything (surprisingly, they all go off track together) act like a black hole; pulling me to their indefinite depth and making me lost to nowhere.

In midst of such circumstances we curse God, ‘where is HE  while all this is happening to me? ‘ How many of us have actually got the answer ? The same beautiful, precious Life seems to be a brutal struggle.

There is one more characteristic of Life – it’s uncertain. We often tend to forget this. It’s our mistake not His.

Sometimes we do not achieve what we set out to do, or something we have had or achieved is taken from us. When the world about us changes, particularly if it is sudden or dramatic, we must adapt to everything. The world is then not what we thought. We are not what we thought we were.. The old picture has been taken away, the old world we knew  that gave us comfort is gone, there is no choice but to form a new world, a new picture of how we think things are.

Stay Happy , keep smilling 🙂

Saakshi

PS :  “Don’t be ashamed to weep; ’tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us.”

Thank you Thanksgiving Day !

On the eve of Thanksgiving, I sat till late night to prepare a long list of people and things I am thankful for. I am amazed by the fact that the list is very much long than the list I once made titled “Things I am sorry for” (at last !! )

Here goes my list

  1. God , Parents , Sisters and  Friends

This doesn’t need explanation. They all define me. I am God-fearing person, His fear gives me strength.  Mine is a family of 5 members: Mom, Dad and 3 sisters. Being the eldest one, I am looked down with responsibilities. My dad loves me the most {Sis(es):  Aren’t you both jealous 😉 }

And I love my sisters. This Thanksgiving I want to Thank you for teaching me the meaning of  selfless love.

Friends, I am completely taken by Airtel promotional advertisement motto – ‘kyunki har k friend jaroori hota hai’ (because, every friend is important). In my good or bad days, during our fights and leg pulling sessions, I appreciate your efforts to handle my short temperedness and increasing my patience level.

Thank you for making me feel alive !!

2. Google

Had I been born in my grandparents or even my parents generation, I would be saying ‘Google ? What’s this ? A miracle? Just Type in your questions and in seconds you will get Goooooooogle answers.

Thank you Google , for providing instant help , anytime , anywhere required , that too unconditionally J .

Google must be having loads of credits for millions of professionals as a major reason behind them.

Thank you Google

4. Books

How can someone on this Earth hate books?  They are my companion. They let me think, listen the mind and soul of the author/character. The characters and incidents usually stay alive, days after I finish any book.

I am a weekly passenger (travel back home every weekend, 225 kms , one way ) a book , music and a big pack of wafers are must for me. So you will find a book always in my bag and some e-books on my office computer.

Thank you books you  keep me going.

I love Enrique Iglesias, since I was in Class 8. Thank you Enrique for making me study and pass my board exams. You always help me out from my mood swings. Your songs have that secret spark to ignite up my mood and bring a long smile on my face, during any course of a day.

Thank you  Thanksgiving Day for giving me an opportunity to thanks everyone for molding me the way I am and I want.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Demand at your own risk !

I don’t have any special talent but I am just extremely demanding.

Candle light dinner, Meeting someone special and dancing on music. Yes this was my small wish list for my 22nd birthday. As the hour hand was approaching towards 12 my excitement was increasing. I finalized my wish list and prayed to god that they come true and till I got to know that I had annoyed him, so much in these 21 years that this time he planned  to teach me a lesson.

Once upon a time in that dark lovely night, ah 😦  forget that, it all started like this …………

I had cooked my favorite dish for dinner. It was 10 and I went inside the kitchen, as soon as I picked the plate. …ohhhh….. The light was gone. I came back to the shadows of my belongings which were almost – invisible, feeling suffocated and fatigue.  I felt sorry for myself. I was feeling hungry and could not eat. I waited for power to come back. But wait prolonged like a government’s 5 year plan. Finally I decided to have dinner. I made my way to kitchen and knocked my cute nose into its door. In anger I smashed the door back hard only to rebound and hit me again. I tried to calm myself down and reached kitchen, I searched for candle and match box, realizing why my parents always used to tell me to put the things on right places. Waving my hand in dark on the shelf I knocked down something  which fell with a big bang ,the very  next moment I felt some sticky thing all around my feet and the delicious smell which filled the kitchen confirmed that my favorite paneer butter tikka masala was on the  ground. I became still and sad. After a lot of search I finally found the candle and match box. I then had a last look at the scattered paneer butter tikka  masala . My mouth watered. But since child hood my mom told me not to eat anything fallen on ground.   I finally cooked a bowl of hot steamy Maggie and started eating. While I was swallowing the lumps, I thought of my first wish having a candle light dinner. God was just not listening to my prayers. I was not sure about the time (the bad time going) but I guess it was pretty close to mid night.

I suddenly realized I was not alone in the room. I remembered my second wish list ‘meeting someone special’, so holding my breath I was looking for the surprise to come up ; someone was there hiding himself and making nostalgic voices. Though candle was lighted, but I couldn’t see properly as I don’t have 6/6 vision and by the way who wears specks at night specially during  power cut, ahh L That someone looked very small, a bit rounded and damn fast.  It didn’t take much time for me to figure out that it was a mouse!!  That shameless mouse wanted to take advantage of me, by coming close to me or maybe it was paneer butter tikka masala  on my feet that was attracting him. I jumped back on bed but he followed like how  a bollywood villain follows a helpless pretty girl. Our movies are proof that in such situations help never comes in time.

To make this condition worse the hour hand of clock reached 12 and with that my cell phone started ringing the tune (dhinka chika , dhinka chika , ae ae ..ae , ae ae ..ae) .My  friends started calling me to wish happy birthday and this is how my third wish came true I was dancing on light music. I thought mouse was enjoying teasing and chasing me as I was hopping around my room like a mad girl doing step aerobics. The cause of my frustration was that I didn’t know whether it was sitting somewhere comfortably and watching me dancing or he was not even in the room !! and there I was wasting my energy.

And yes ladies and gentle man the phone continued ringing (dhinka chika , dhinka chika , ae ae ..ae , ae ae ..ae)  as my friends were competing , who will wish me first. I have never sweat that much even in my aerobic classes.

Hey ,  If you are afraid of mouse hire them as personal trainer, bet me I lost two kgs in that short interval , without  even making a dent in my pocket.

I thought neither god nor mouse was showing mercy but help do came after 15 minutes of dhinka chika dance ,  at last ,  Noida electricity board, finally returned my share of light after celebrating my birthday party at their HQ !

My beautiful , lovely  room looked like battle ground of Panipat. I first checked for that special one (who did wonders for me in such a short duration 😉 ) and I think it too left after having its share of fun.

That day I learned a secret lesson ………. And that stayed with me ……. and I am leaving a portion with you …….

Demand at your own risk.
